The World Food Program (WFP), in conjunction with its interagency, organizational and governmental partners, conducted a Contingency Planning (CP) workshop during the period 15-19 September 1997 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Participants included representatives from local, national, regional and international agencies and organizations.
The overall goal of the workshop was to address the growing likelihood of drought in the Sahel region , particularly the countries of Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, and Niger, and to develop a comprehensive strategy for intervention and mitigation.
Partners International Foundation provided the conceptual framework for the workshop to include instruction on the Foundation's Humanitarian Deliberate Planning and Analysis Model, Crisis Intervention Plans, and program synchronization. In addition, Partners International Foundation provided both Strategic and Operational level workshop facilitators under its facilitation/acceleration services program.
